Since my birthday is only 1 week away from today - I thought I'd put together a few of my favourite things I have had my eye on for the last couple of months. I'm really trying to invest in more statement wardrobe pieces rather than trendy pieces (the perspex heels might just end up being a dream purchase since they're only in trend now!), but as for the others, I think they're good key pieces to keep in a wardrobe that won't go out of style.

This month, I am Topshop loving. Winter is without a doubt my favourite season of the year because I love chunky knits, autumn colours, and the general feeling of crisp weather. I wasn't too impressed with Toyshop's Spring/Summer collection but their Autumn/Winter collection is all very wearable throughout the year.

As much as I'm trying not to spend my money on clothing I don't need, new stock just keeps coming out and I can't resist spending hours online browsing. I haven't shopped in ASOS in a long time and there's some really great stuff in at the moment - I'm waiting for a cheeky student discount offer to come through before I put in an order... And of course, Zara and Topshop always has something I lust after.

Next week I will be heading to London for a mini shopping break *happy dance*. For almost a decade now, my family and I have been holidaying in London at least once a year to shop, eat and have fun. It's become sort of a tradition, and a nice treat for all of us because we love being there and the shopping is as good as it gets. I travel to London quite often for my work, and I get the odd few hours to shop but this time I will be going for 2 days so that's plenty of shopping and eating. In the past, I've always worn either flat shoes or boots when out and about in London but this time, I'm wearing my super-comfy adidas superstars - minimum pain, maximum gain (in shopping). The jumpsuit and dress are recent purchases from Zara - they're the perfect clothes to wear for maximum all-day comfort and get in and out of (if I decide to try clothes on). I'm still on the hunt for the perfect black leather jacket but haven't had such luck...hoping to find one in London (pictured is also from Zara). I feel that a backpack is seriously necessary when doing serious shopping because a handbag just gives you one less ability to hold more shopping bags. 

I have a wish list (to purchase...) ready for both fashion and beauty products when I head down there, so expect some mini hauls in my upcoming posts!

My Highlight and Contour Routine feat. Smashbox, MAC and Kevyn Aucoin

Contouring and highlighting is a must in my everyday makeup routine. Powder for everyday but if I'm going out or have a special occasion, I double the effort with both cream and powder contouring products. I wanted to share my favourite contouring and highlighting products, my application tools and my best tips to achieve a flawless base.

By all means, I am not an expert or a professional and I am still learning to perfect my featured contour look. I know my face shape, and I know the best ways to contour and highlight the dimensions of my face. Of course everyone has different preferences and different face shapes, so what I like to use and what works for me might not work for everyone. It's just my personal preferences and my time in testing products that best work for me and my face shape

Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer [Light] | MAC Prep + Prime Highlighter [Light Boost] | Smashbox Step-By-Step Contour Sticks [Contour + Bronze]

Highlight the high panes of the face (bridge of the nose, centre of the forehead, chin, cupids bow and cheekbones/under the eyes). I use maybelline concealer first then brush the MAC pen on top, being especially generous on the under eye section and nose. Using the contour shade (cool brown) from the Smashbox pencils, I line the outer forehead, underneath the cheekbones, jawline and the sides of my nose (optional). Then use the bronze shade (slightly warmer brown) top of the contour lines of the cheek and forehead. 

Beauty Blender | NARS Ita Brush | MAC 137 Sculpted Pointed Brush | MAC 167SE Brush

I first use the beauty blender to blend out the highlighter and then the natural fibres of the NARS Ita brush effortlessly blends the contour, bronze and highlight colours together. Using the MAC 137 brush and Kevyn Aucoin sculpting powder, I go over the cream contour and chisel the colour into the hollows of my cheekbones and the temples of my forehead. I then go in with the MAC 167SE brush with the Smashbox Suntan Matte bronzer and warm up the rest of my face. To set and 'bake' the highlighted sections, I use my damp beauty blender to generously apply MAC set powder and keep this on until I have finished the rest of my face/eye makeup.

This is not an everyday look for me - this is a look I only do for special occasions and on the weekends. I do contour everyday but I skip the cream contouring and 'baking' method, and use the powders only. I love having a full-face of makeup and experimenting with contouring and highlighting. It's definitely something that is a personal preference and not everyone is a fan, but I do enjoy the process of this method.

My wish lists are getting smaller but more expensive...the struggle. I am in desperate need for a leather jacket, I used to have a faux version from Topshop but it wore badly, which is why I am prepared to invest in a real leather jacket. The petite version in Topshop is perfect and exactly my taste. The grey trench coat is probably my 2nd favourite item but the regular size is too long, and they have just introduced a tall version so I''m paying to the fashion God's that they will bring out a petite version too!

I'll be travelling to Geneva, Switzerland exactly one month today, with my best friend as my first holiday this year. I can't wait. I'm not sure what the weather will be like at this time of year but I imagine it to be similar to English weather, but slightly warmer. So this would be something I would throw together if I was going out to meet someone for coffee, or go to the cinemas. I still like to be dressy regardless of where I'm going and my colour palette is usually neutral with pops of colour. I featured this jacket in my clothing and accessories wish list here, and I did in fact go out and get the jacket because I think it's perfect for spring.
