If you're an Asian girl with short stubby eyelashes, you know the struggle to find a good mascara to get your eyelashes long, uplifted - and to stay that way all day. Well struggle no more as there is a combination to make those asian eyes pop without the need of false eyelashes. Introducing Smashbox Photo Finish Eyelash Primer and Makeup Forever Excessive Mascara - a match made in heaven.
I first saw this combination from YouTube Beauty guru Holly Annaeree, and from what I know, she always wore false eyelashes until she discovered this combination. Being asian, I knew her struggle of having short stubborn lashes so I knew I had to try out this combination. No matter how many lengthening, volumising or curling mascara's I tried - my lashes just wouldn't stay curled. As soon as I found out what products Holly was using to keep get her eyelashes so long and curly, I went out and purchased the Smashbox Photo Finish Eyelash primer and Makeup Forever Excessive mascara straightaway.
Before this, I never used an eyelash primer in my makeup routine but this Smashbox Photo Finish Eyelash primer is a complete game changer for me. Once I've curled my lashes, applying the primer really fans and combs through my eyelashes individually - the design of the brush really helps sculpt how your eyelashes are going to look in the end. The mascara wand is made up of solid plastic bristles and one side is an actual comb to help you brush through every single lash. The full, big version of the Smashbox Photo Finish Eyelash primer is retailed at £17 and because I wasn't sure if it was going to work or not - I opted to get the miniature version for £5 instead - well two miniature versions to put in my weekend makeup case. Once I've used these two up, I'll probably go ahead and purchase the full version and another miniature version for travel.
From the image, you can see the shape of the wand clearly - wider and longer bristles on one side, with shorter bristles on each other side.
Once the primer dries, I go ahead and apply the Makeup Forever Excessive mascara. The wand of this mascara is fairly bristly, which I'm not normally a fan of but paired with the Smashbox Photo Finish Eyelash primer, it works amazing together. The Makeup Forever Excessive mascara is also a little drier in formula than I usually prefer (I prefer a plastic comb wand and a wetter formula). Although one coat usually does the trick, but I like the thick eyelash look so I go ahead and apply a second coat. The longer eyelashes makes me feel more confident when I'm just wearing my everyday makeup, so it's perfect for work.
