Based on my obsession for makeup, mascara is the only
product that I don’t change very often. Since I have short Asian, stubby
lashes, I find that most mascaras that claim to give ‘volume and length’ either
clump my lashes or flatten them.
So when I find good mascara that works for me, I tend to
re-stock on them as soon as I have used it up and not change for a while until
I am curious to try something else. I believe the design of a mascara wand
makes all the difference in knowing how a product will perform (as well as the
actual mascara formula). From my own personal experience, I find that comb wands
are better at separating my lashes and building up texture and volume. Also, I
prefer a slightly wetter formula because I feel that it glides on more smoothly
and coat all individual lashes. Mascaras that have very bristly wands and are creamier
in their formulas tend to clump my lashes together because it takes a lot more
layers to get any texture.
At the moment, there are only two other mascaras that I
would go out and re-stock and those are L’Oreal Paris Telescopic and MAC Zoom
Fast Lash. Although MAC Zoom Fast Lash isn’t a comb wand, I find the formula quite
wet and the wand is not as bristly. Some people have commented that the MAC Upward Lash mascara can be quite clumpy, and I agree - it can look clumpy but because I have fairly short lashes, I don't actually mind and as long as I let each coat dry before re-applying, I don't really have a problem with this.
Are you a fan of any of the MAC mascaras? Are there any other comb-style mascaras that I should be trying?
